THE END OF PATROUILLE REVA

After almost 30 years of continuous airshow flying all across Europe, one of the most unique and respected civilian aerobatics teams the Patrouille REVA has today been disbanded. The news has been confirmed by the leader Réal Weber during the last General Assembly of the association. The aircraft used by the team, two VariEZ and Rutan LongEZ which were significantly modified and reinforced to be able to perform those displays are now for sale.

Patrouille REVA was created by Réal Weber, a former air force pilot. In 1983, he decided to build his own aircraft, inspired by the “Variez” drawings and two years later the “Acroez” was born, an aerobatics aircraft like no other. Réal Weber’s initial plan was to perform solo aerobatics however, given the increasing public interest, he was joined by two other retired French Air Force Pilots and in 1992 the REVA association was born. The team was based at the Colmar Airport in the Grand Est region of northeastern France, near the border with Germany. Throughout its career, the team has displayed over 400 times all over Europe and beyond!

Their aerobatic skills were demonstrated using a unique Rutan LongEZ and VariEZ made by the maker of the SpaceShipOne, Burt Rutan. Those unique looking aircraft are capable of flying as fast as 315 km/h at fuel consumption as low as 25l/h. The aerobatic display performed by Patrouille REVA consisted of 16 figures with the final one representing a heart. Their amazing shows were also highlighted by white smoke from the aircraft.

Réal Weber has also announced that if the 3 aircraft are not sold he will continue to display at airshows but this time during solo aerobatic demonstrations.
