The Flying Bulls (Fixed-Wing)
About the Team
The Flying Bulls are a Red Bull–supported group of pilots, engineers and restorers based at Hangar-7 / Hangar-8, Salzburg Airport. Their mission is to preserve, maintain and fly a world-class collection of fixed-wing historic and aerobatic aircraft—from classic warbirds to modern trainers and utility types—appearing at airshows and events across Europe.
What began as a small warbird passion has grown into a meticulously maintained fleet with museum-grade presentation and airline-level engineering standards. Below you’ll find every fixed-wing type currently in the Flying Bulls fleet, including the recently welcomed Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat.

Team History
The collection’s roots go back to the 1980s and pilot Sigi Angerer, whose early restorations (including a T-28B Trojan) drew the interest of Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz. In 1999, The Flying Bulls were formally established, and Salzburg’s Hangar-7 (opened 2003) and Hangar-8 followed—purpose-built to display and maintain the growing fleet.
Over time, signature fixed-wing aircraft joined: the magnificent DC-6B (OE-LDM), P-38, B-25J, F4U-4, P-51D, a civilian-registered Alpha Jet quartet, aerobatic mounts like the Extra 300LX and Su-29, plus versatile utility aircraft for STOL, amphibious and observation roles. In 2025, the high-performance Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat was welcomed to Salzburg, further strengthening the warbird line-up.
