BUCHAREST INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW TO RETURN IN 2022

The Fortele Aeriene Romane (Romanian Air Force) has announced that after a two-year absence due to covid restrictions the Bucharest International Air Show (BIAS), the largest of its kind in Romania, will return this year. The airshow will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2022, traditionally at the Bucharest Baneasa-Aurel Vlaicu and ROMAERO International Airport.

The Bucharest International Air Show will, without doubt, be the last opportunity to see the Romanian Air Force's legendary Mig-21 LanceR’s in flight. The Romanian Migs will be retired on the 15th of May 2023 and replaced with ex-Norwegian Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons. Besides the Migs, we can certainly expect to see static and dynamic displays of all of the Romanian Air Force aircraft such as the F-16s, IAR 99s, IAR 316s, IAR 330s, An-30s, An-26s, C-27s, C-130s and many more. Besides the aircraft from the Romanian Air Force and the Romanian aeroclub, we can certainly expect a number of international performers both military and civilian.

Statement from the organizers;

“The biggest air show in Romania - Bucharest International Air Show & General Aviation Exhibition (BIAS), the XII edition, will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Bucharest Baneasa-Aurel Vlaicu and ROMAERO International Airport.

After a two-year absence, the most impressive aviation show in Romania returns with an edition dedicated to the first woman paratrooper in Romania, Smaranda Braescu, but also to the celebration of the 110th anniversary of the establishment of the Baneasa Airport.

The organizers - Bucharest Airports National Company, Romanian Air Force, Romanian Aeroclub, ROMAERO, ROMATSA and AIBO Sports Club - promise a show up to the height of the fame obtained in the 11 editions of BIAS held since 2009 onwards.

We will be back with details about Romanian and foreign invitations as well as about the event schedule.”
